The wooden pallet was born out of necessity in the early 20th century, when factories and warehouses needed a faster way to move goods than stacking them loose by hand. By the 1930s, the invention of the forklift turned the pallet from a simple wooden platform into the foundation of modern logistics.
Today, over 90% of all goods shipped worldwide touch a wooden pallet at some point in their journey — from raw materials entering a factory to finished products reaching a retail shelf. Nearly a century later, wood remains the material of choice because it is strong, repairable, renewable, and cost-effective in a way plastic and metal alternatives still struggle to match.
